01/02/19 Daily Devotion – God is with you!

And He said, “Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.” ” (Exodus 3:12, NASB95)

Moses had a lot of reservations about being the one chosen by God to deliver the children of Israel from Egyptian slavery.  As a matter of fact, I think he ended up challenging God’s choice 5 or 6 times.  It’s no surprise that God won the challenge.  He caused Moses’ staff to become a snake and his hand to become leprous white.  But shouldn’t the (bold) words above been enough to give him the confidence he needed?!?!?  Before you answer that question, ask it of yourself.  Does it give you enough confidence to do what God is calling you to do?  I know too many Christians who are still sitting on the sidelines of faithful living because they don’t trust the words, “Certainly I will be with you…”  The words sound good.  Many Christians can point to how they were proved out in the lives of the saints of old or even people they know, but to actually step out in faith and do what God wants them to do is asking a little too much.

Let’s not let Satan steal the strength and confidence that these words can actually give to us–let’s walk by sight instead of by faith.  Let me prove the truth of the verse above by asking you a question.  Is there ever a time when God is not with you?  Of course not.  He is with us from the womb to and past the tomb.  You see, as soon as I challenge you with the truth, Satan has to leave and only God’s truth remains.  If God is ALWAYS with us, then we have nothing to worry about when it comes to stepping out and doing whatever it is that God is calling us to do.

Spend some time today living in the confidence of God’s being ever present with you and ask him what He is calling you to do for His Kingdom.
