09/04/2021 Daily Devotion – We always know the end!

“But I know that the king of Egypt will not permit you to go, except under compulsion. So I will stretch out My hand and strike Egypt with all My miracles which I shall do in the midst of it; and after that he will let you go. ” (Exodus 3:19–20, NASB95)

What first struck me in this verse is that God is telling Moses how the exodus is going to take place prior to it happening.  Then I began to think, “He always tells us how things are going to end.  He just doesn’t always tell us how He is going to get to the end.”  We have a God who doesn’t leave us in suspense about how something is going to end.  He told Adam and Eve what would happen if they ate the fruit.  He told Satan that his head was going to be crushed.  He told the children of Israel that they would go into a promised land.  He told them what was going to happen if they turned to other gods and served them.  He tells you and me what will happen when we die or when He returns again.  He is a God who wants us to be in “the know”.

I find this to be very comforting.  We live pretty chaotic lives in a pretty unsettling world, but we have a God who is in absolute control and knows how the story ends.  This should provide us hope and peace about today and the future.  You see, God’s “ends” are always redemptive.  He always saves and redeems.  Jesus told Nicodemus that the day he saw the Son of Man hanging from a tree he would know what it meant to be born again; and that is exactly what happened in the life of Nicodemus.

I want you to be certain about God’s promises for you.  I want you to be hopeful about what He has in store for you.  Even if what you are going through today doesn’t seem to make much sense, God is a God who takes bad situations and makes them good.
