“So the people believed; and when they heard that the LORD was concerned about the sons of Israel and that He had seen their affliction, then they bowed low and worshiped. ” (Exodus 4:31, NASB95)
Moses went back to Egypt with Aaron and spoke with the leaders of the people of Israel. He shared with them what He experienced when talking to God at the burning bush. But look at what mattered to the children of Israel most…that the Lord was concerned for them and their affliction. This is what causes them to bow low and worship Him. Is there a better reason than this today to bow low and worship the Lord? Is it touching to your spirit to know that the Lord is concerned for you? Does it move you to know that He sees your affliction? He loves us as a father for his children. The God of the universe intimately knows and understands what you and I are going through today. This is why we worship.
We do not worship out of fear! We do not worship out of obligation! We worship out of gratitude to a God who deeply loves us and is concerned about us. So we go to church to be with others like us who are in need of God’s comfort and grace. We need to be reassured that He knows what we are going through and will act according to His grace and His will for our life. He promises that all things will work for our good (Rom. 8:28). We worship so that His Word may richly dwell within us. Put simply, we worship the Lord because He cares for us.
I join you today in worshipping our great and compassionate God.
Peace!
