06/17/23 Daily Devotion – What a beautiful sight!

“But when our time was up, we left and continued on our way. All the disciples and their wives and children accompanied us out of the city, and there on the beach we knelt to pray.” (Acts 21:5 NIV84)

Paul had been sailing from city to city working himself back to Jerusalem. In this verse Paul and his companions were in the city of Tyre. They found believers in Tyre and spent several days with them. On the day it was time for the ship to set sail, the believers from the town went with Paul and his companions to the ship to see them off. Before Paul boarded the ship, he and all who were with him knelt down on the beach and prayed. Just stop for a moment. Picture this scene in your mind’s eye. What a beautiful sight. God’s people throwing themselves before Almighty God in prayer as they looked into a very uncertain future. We need to do this more often!

Our Christianity has become too personal. We need to resurrect the communal aspect of our faith. We are all part of the body of Christ. We are interconnected. We need to live, breathe and pray as an interconnected group of Christians throwing ourselves before Almighty God in prayer as we look into an uncertain future. In God’s eyes, there can’t be a more pure form of worship than for God’s people to turn to Him in the middle of their everyday lives, calling on Him to hear and respond.

Today, find a way to pray with at least one other Christian. What a beautiful sight that will be. If you are looking for others to pray with, join us live every morning M-F at 9:00 am on our Facebook page or Youtube channel for Let’s Pray.

Peace!
