03/13/19 Daily devotion – Turn to Me!

“Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other. ” (Isaiah 45:22, NASB95)

Many years before Isaiah wrote this verse, another prophet, Moses, pleaded for the children of Israel to look and be saved. Moses and the people were traveling through the wilderness when, because of their disobedience, snakes came up and attacked the people and they were dying from the snake bites.  Moses prayed to the Lord for mercy. The Lord told Moses to make a bronze serpent and fasten it to a pole and anyone who was bitten by a snake need only to look at the bronze serpent and they would be healed.  Notice, the Lord didn’t immediately remove the snakes.  He provided a means by which, if they would trust and believe in Him, they could be healed by simply looking to the bronze snake.

Isn’t this exactly what God has done for us in Jesus? The Bible says that when the Son of Man hangs from the tree, He will draw all men to Himself.  Jesus’ crucifixion is the pivotal point in world history.  At that moment He bore all of the brokenness and sin in the world and provided us a way to find life.  All we have to do is look to the cross of Jesus Christ and be saved!  Please note in the verse above that the plea is to the whole world (“ends of the earth”).  The message of the Gospel is for ALL. The message of the Christian Church is that Jesus has saved and redeemed us all. The Church pleads with the world around it to simply look and be saved.

You see, there is no other God and there is no other way. Jesus is “the Way and the Truth and the Life” (Jn. 14:6). Today, I encourage you to stop for a moment and look at the cross. Look at the source of your salvation and be reminded of God’s great love for you.

Peace!
