“Then make its seven lamps and set them up on it so that they light the space in front of it.” (Exodus 25:37 NIV84)
“The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him — the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.” (Isaiah 11:2 NIV84)
“John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.” (Rev. 1:4-5b NIV84)
Just look at the continuity of the Holy Scriptures. Moses in Exodus is describing the seven lamps that are going to be used to provide light for those who worship in the tabernacle. Isaiah is describing the seven attributes of the Holy Spirit. And John, in the book of Revelation, is describing the Trinity and refers to the Holy Spirit as the seven spirits. I am just amazed at the consistency even of the imagery used in the Scriptures. The Holy Spirit is the one who enlightens our souls with the truth of God’s Word. That word of truth would have continuously been spoken as people worshiped and prayed in the temple.
Besides being amazed at the awesomeness of the Scriptures, I would like you to yearn for the Spirit to enlighten your heart and mind. Pray that He provide you wisdom, knowledge, fear and wise counsel. May the lamp of the Holy Spirit burn brightly in each one of us!
Peace!
