“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. ” (Proverbs 15:22, NIV)
We once hit on the verse that says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, it leads to folly and death.” Solomon, throughout the book of Proverbs, tells us that just because we think it, that doesn’t make it right. We have to make sure that what we are thinking and planning is aligned with what God has planned. We have to talk about the importance of being in the Word and prayer in order to stay connected with the Lord. Yet another way that He communicates with us is through the people He places around us. It is important that we acknowledge the godly and wise among us and listen and hear what they say about our plans.
In God’s scheme of things we are never to live our lives independently. Plans fail when we try to do things all on our own. We are to live our lives dependent upon God and His grace and interdependent with those among us. We should share or hopes and fears with the godly people in our life. We should listen intently to what they have to say. Solomon is telling us that the Lord will speak through their wise counsel to confirm or correct the plans we have for our lives.
Take a look around you today. See who God has brought into your life. Note that they are the wise counsel you should be listening to. Share with them your hopes, dreams and plans, and listen to their response. God will use their wise counsel to confirm or correct your path so it is aligned with His holy and perfect will for your life.
Peace!
