02/21/19 Daily Devotion – Humanism doesn’t work!

You turn things around! Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay, that what is made would say to its maker, ‘He did not make me’; or what is formed say to him who formed it, ‘He has no understanding’? — Isaiah 29:16 (NASB95)

This verse is a striking condemnation of modern-day humanism. We have gone way beyond the silly notion that a potter could ever be equated with the clay. We have made the potter unnecessary by claiming that the clay formed itself into a pot. Our society arrogantly claims that a maker is unnecessary because somehow we have made ourselves. With modern-day science diving evermore deeper and deeper into the complexities of not just the human body but the complexities of a single human cell, we still plow down the path that we are just the by-products of random chance. How idiotic can we be? We are the clay pot looking back at the potter and saying, “You did not make me!” Our society is certainly guilty of turning things around.

We need to remember that Satan is not creative. He can’t make a thing. The only thing he can do is distort the truth. When something strikes our hearts as common sense, as right, it just might be. I find it utterly amazing that we look at things around us and don’t hesitate to know that someone made it (a car, house, watch, pyramids, etc.). What if someone told you that the pyramids randomly came together? Would you buy that argument? Why not? You have no proof that they were made. Your God-given reason forces you to conclude that they had to be made by intelligent designers. Now look at the universe our planet sits in. Absorb the fact that the earth is the perfect distance from the sun and has the perfect environment to sustain life. Today, scientists are looking into a single human cell and are finding out that there are mechanisms and processes contained within it that defy comprehension. Now, what if someone told you that it all just occurred by random chance? I say, not a chance! We cannot let Satan distort the obvious.

Join me in praying for our society. We need to have healthy debates about the truths of our origin. We need to set aside our prideful intellect and recognize that God created the very mind we are using to reason that He doesn’t exist. How foolish. We pots must unite and declare allegiance to our Potter. 🙂

Peace!
