“I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud And your sins like a heavy mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.” (Isaiah 44:22, NASB95)
There are a lot of reasons to consider returning to the Lord. The prodigal son finally realized that life wasn’t so bad when he lived with his dad. He realized that the grass is NOT greener on the other side. Others return to the Lord because they find in Him the purpose and meaning for life that seems to evade us in this world. Still others return to the Lord because, in their pursuit of truth, they find that the Lord is the embodiment of truth. But the fact remains, there is a reason that we all should return to the Lord.
The beauty of this verse is that God is the one pleading for our return. He has promised to wipe out our sins and remember them no more. This is the one reason that we all have to return to the Lord. We all are broken sinners who need God’s grace and mercy. As a loving Father, He pleads with us to return to His arms of grace and forgiveness. “Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.” These are the words we long to hear. God has purchased and won us back from sin. Jesus paid the price (bore our sins) and bought us back. He pleads for us to see His act of redemption and to leave the darkness of this life to return to His love, light, life, grace, mercy, forgiveness, hope, joy, truth, etc.
