“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. ” (Isaiah 53:5, NIV)
For the last two days we have focused on Jesus’ suffering on our behalf. We have reminded ourselves that God understands us more than we give Him credit for. Jesus went through more human suffering than any one of us will ever experience. But today, I want you to look past the words, “pierced”, “crushed”, and “punishment” and grab onto the words “peace” and “healed”. How do those two words resonate in your heart and soul today? Are they nice thoughts and ideals that seem a million miles away, or are they so close to you that they supply you all the hope you need to get through the day?
What a shame it would be that Jesus would go through all that He did to provide us healing and peace, and we don’t feel it or live it out in our daily lives. Satan is the only creature on the planet who would not want you to live healed in heart and at peace with God. He is a liar and a murderer! Jesus alone truly cares for and loves you. He alone desires to provide you an abundant life. Look at the cross and the empty tomb. Hear Jesus saying to you, as He did to the Apostles after the resurrection, “Peace be with you!” When Jesus said, “It is finished!” from the cross, He was declaring to you and me that He did everything necessary for us to have peace with God and healing to our minds and hearts.
We are healed by the wounds of Jesus! Let’s receive and live in that healing daily!
Peace!
