11/29/2021 Daily Devotion – What is your most important relationship?

“For your husband is your Maker, Whose name is the Lord of hosts; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, Who is called the God of all the earth.” — Isaiah 54:5 (NASB)

Have you ever felt alone and powerless? Has that feeling ever sunk deep inside your soul? It is suffocating, isn’t it? It is in those moments that we understand clearly we were not meant to be alone. We were created to be in relationships. But sometimes it is these very relationships that make us feel alone and powerless. Satan takes the very thing that God has created for our good and turns it upside-down. One of the first things we need to do when our relationships turn bad is to turn toward God. We need to turn away from our selfishness and repent. Relationships are not bad — they never will be. God created them to be good. What is bad is the people in those relationships. People need to be repentant and transformed in the relationships they have.

But there is a relationship that you must recognize as the most important. That is your relationship with God. Read the verse above one more time. God Almighty Himself is our “husband.” He desires to be in an intimate relationship with us. The Israelites were captive in a foreign land and felt very much alone. God was reminding them that He was ALWAYS there for them. God’s love for us is a constant. It never wanes. We have an intimate relationship with the Creator of the universe. He is our Redeemer and Friend.

Be comforted today that God has placed you in a loving relationship with Him and offers you that same loving relationship with those around you. Just make sure your earthly relationships are rooted in the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

Peace!
