“‘Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” — Isaiah 54:10 (NIV)
There are just those days you need to be reminded that everything is going to be alright. Life, at times, feels as if someone has pulled the rug out from under your feet. You can’t tell which way’s up or down. You’re almost afraid to take a step because you’re not sure whether it’s going to be the right one. Ever have one of those days, months, years? Are you going through one now? I am talking about those days you feel all alone. Even the people who are supposed to be the closest to you are forsaking you. When those times come, what do you do? Where do you go?
Read the verse one more time. “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed.” Now that sounds like a pretty rough day. Nothing is like it is supposed to be. In this verse, God tells us to think about Him. Seriously! He encourages us to think about the fact that no matter how bad a day you may have in this life, it will not change the fact that He loves you! His covenant of compassion, grace, and forgiveness will not be shaken. It will not be affected by the chaos in your life. God is unchanging, and so is His eternal covenant of grace. When Jesus said “It is finished!” He was declaring an absolute fact. He was not declaring something that might or could be, but something that IS.
So, no matter how your day goes today, know that God’s relationship with you is immovable. The events of the day will not have any effect on how He feels toward you. The crazy times in life will come and go, but the one constant you have through all eternity is that God loves you.
Peace!
