“I obey your precepts and your statutes, for all my ways are known to you.” — Psalm 119:168 (NIV)
All you have to do is read Psalm 139, and you will quickly realize how intimately God knows you. The psalmist says that God knows our thoughts before we speak them. There is nowhere we can go and not still be intimately connected to our Creator. We do not have an impersonal God, but we have a God who loves and cares for and about us. It is this God who brings us His Word. It is His precepts and statutes we obey.
The more deeply we grow in His Word, the more intimately we grow toward Him. The closer we grow toward Him, the clearer it is that His precepts and statutes are for our good. He does not give us rules for rules’ sake. He does not require ritualistic obedience to worship practices and disciplines just to prove that He is God. Far from it! He provides us rules and guidelines as a loving father would his children. He provides them from a heart of love. He provides them to protect His children from straying into danger. This is why the psalmist says, “I obey your precepts and your statutes, for all my ways are known to you.”
All our ways are known to God! And He still loves us! 🙂 Trust that He provides us His Word for our own good.
Peace!
