03/11/22 Daily Devotion – You can trust God with your life!

“Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O Lord, the God of truth.” — Psalm 31:5 (NIV)

Read the first seven words of the verse above one more time. Do they sound familiar? Who were they spoken by and what were the circumstances? Yes, they are Jesus’ own words from the cross. Actually, they are the last words spoken by Jesus to His father before He gave up His spirit and died an earthly death. Jesus’ work of redemption is directly connected to God’s truthfulness. The man, Jesus, had to rely on God’s Word just like you and me. We can see the struggle in the garden of Gethsemane when Jesus asked for the cup to be taken away from Him, but added “not My will, but Your will be done.”

Jesus stands as a witness and testimony that God is truthful. Absolutely truthful! When He rose from the dead on Easter morning, He was verifying that every promise that God made about our redemption was true and had been fulfilled. We are called to rely on the truthfulness of God’s Word. Our daily lives should be an echo of those first seven words, sounding something like this, “Into Your hands I commit my life and soul.” We can let our heavenly Creator have all of us because He promises to be faithful and true to us.

Let us commit our lives and souls to God, our redeemer, because His Word is true.

Peace!
