03/18/22 Daily Devotion – Hold on to Truth at all cost!

“Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding.” — Proverbs 23:23 (NIV84)

Biblical truth is a prized possession. Throughout the book of Proverbs, its author emphasizes the extreme value of obtaining the knowledge, wisdom, and truth of God. It is life-giving and life-changing. We should be willing to give all we have to obtain it. And once obtained, we should hold onto it as the most important thing we have. You see, to have truth is to have God. Once one has a relationship with God it would be silly to give it up for something else. Only the Lord can guide us through the days we spend on this earth. He alone can reveal His plan for our lives. He is the truth that we obtain and never sell.

God wants us to know His truth so badly that He sent His Son into the world to reveal that truth. Jesus said of Himself, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life” (John 14:6). Jesus’ life and ministry are an expression of God’s truth. And that truth is that although we have fallen into sin, God loves us anyway. He loves us so much that He sent Jesus into the world to bear our punishment and die in our place. The truth is that God desires to live in relationship with us and has paved the way for that relationship to exist by providing us redemption in the death and resurrection of His Son. Once we come to know Jesus we need to hold on to Him. We need to be branches firmly grafted to Jesus (the Vine). Only then can we be properly nourished by the truth of His Word.

Grab onto God’s truth today! Hold onto it as your most prized possession.

Peace!
