Jesus calls us to look under the masks we wear in public and face our real selves. He calls us to recognize and admit our brokenness and sinfulness so that we might be made righteous through His death and resurrection.
10/08/2022 Daily Devotion – A charity-loaded resume and an impressive pedigree are useless when it comes to God’s kingdom!
“Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.” (Luke 3:8, NIV84) An inherent problem with God’s people is their persistence in seeing their inclusion in the kingdom […]
10/07/2022 Daily Devotion – Repentance is not a once and done thing!
“In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar — when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene — during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in […]
09/26/22 Daily Devotion – God’s got a plan for your life, too!
“And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will […]
08/09/22 Daily Devotion – You are set apart, so live that way!
“Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons.” (Philippians 1:1, NIV84) Today, we begin a series of devotions on the book of Philippians. This book is one of my favorite Pauline letters. The Philippian church had it going on. These people […]
07/28/22 Daily Devotion – Do you have oil in your lamp?
“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise, however, took oil in jars along with […]
07/23/22 Daily Devotion – Who do you say Jesus is?
“’But what about you?’ he asked. ‘Who do you say I am?’ Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus replied, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you […]
07/19/22 Daily Devotion – The kingdom of heaven’s King is gracious!
“Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.” — Matthew 18:23 (NIV84) Now, this is the side of God we all fear. The side that wants an accounting. Who of us could stand unscathed if God were to call us to an accounting right now? Ugh! Exactly! […]
07/15/22 Daily Devotion – You are God’s treasure!
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, […]
06/22/22 Daily Devotion – God forgives all who repent!
“When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened.” (Jonah 3:10, NIV84) Our God is an amazing God! He is patient and long-suffering! He loves His creatures, regardless of their offenses. He yearns for the return of […]
